Did you, by chance, click the ‘pay now’ or ‘checkout’ button more than once?

I have seen this myself before and this is generally the cause. For clarity here this isn’t about assigning blame – but just trying to perhaps help you understand what happened.

Realistically they should refund you the extra payments if you ask for it but at least they’re giving you credit and the money isn’t disappearing into the void. It probably depends on their terms which you’d likely have agreed to during the sign-up process.

I know that in the past when IONOS was known as 1&1 they were well-known for charging people that canceled and then pursuing them / sending them to collections if the payment didn’t go through. I have heard less about this – but it does not surprise me that they would not want to refund you an accidental payment.

Not really surprising from IONOS.

You only can call them (luckily if you resides in the USA) or send them email to support@ionos.com .. and when you send an email asking for your rights (refund or lifting out the suspension), they answer you for more information and then they disappear and never come back to you with a resolution.

Again, not entirely surprising from IONOS.

I’m sorry to say it – but being involved in this industry for as long as I have been these issues are all well known about 1&1/Ionos. If you do some research now knowing what you know you’ll probably find a lot of similar experiences.

Hopefully you’re able to get it sorted out but expect it to be a huge pain in the rear.
